Price Drop on Over-quota Bandwidth Usage

We’ve deployed significant Internet connectivity upgrades over the last couple of months (more links, more redundancy as well as more capacity) and we can now pass this on to customers in the form of a drop in our “Over-Quote Bandwidth Usage” fee, which was 44 cents inc GST (AU$) and is now 25 cents per GigaByte inc GST.

What’s more, we only consider your ‘highest data usage direction’ in charging for network usage, so for example if you have a 200GB monthly network traffic quota on your VPS Plan and you have incoming data usage of 200GB in a month, as well as outgoing data usage of 200GB in the same month, we won’t charge you any over-quota traffic fees for that month.

We believe that our network quotas (on plans which have them) are large anyway, but now any cost to customers of exceeding their network quota is reduced, while at the same time being able to take advantage of our more diverse Internet connectivity available within our network.

Of course, as has been our policy for sometime, we only meter or charge network usage fees on “Transit” traffic and “Peered” data transferred through any of our many domestic Australian Peering Links (gigabits of bandwidth available over multiple Peering Links) is un-metered and un-charged.

Please feel free to contact us with any queries on this price drop for over-quota network traffic usage.

Regards,
Richard.

Extra CPU for VPS Orders with 1GB of RAM or more

All our VPS Plans with 1GB of RAM or more already have at least 2 x CPUs (“dual core”) and to celebrate our new VPS hosting platforms coming online, we’re offering a special whereby any VPS Order for a VPS with 1GB or more of RAM, from today onwards (February 18th), will be provisioned with an additional CPU ‘core’ versus what’s listed in the relevant VPS Plan.

So for example, if you order our ‘Best Price 1GB RAM VPS‘ Plan you’ll get 3 x CPUs provisioned for your VPS, instead of the listed 2 x CPUs.

Of course, all our listed VPS Plans are provisioned with dedicated system resources using the Xen virtualisation technology, providing the best performance available.

We’ll confirm this “Extra CPU” when your Order is provisioned as well.

Please contact us if you have any queries on this special offer.

Regards,
Richard.

Of course, all our listed VPS Plans are provisioned with dedicated system resources using the Xen virtualisation technology, providing the best performance available.

We’ll confirm this “double your RAM” when your Order is provisioned as well.

Please contact us if you have any queries on this special offer.

Optimised the WordPress Appliance VPS

We run quite a few of these ‘Managed WordPress VPS‘ for customers, where they have an ‘Internet Appliance’ in the form of a supported WordPress CMS for their website, on their own customised VPS that we provide the SysAdmin and support for as well.

Recently though we’ve updated the template for this WordPress Appliance VPS to optimise it for performance, with a number of System, Web Server and WordPress software updates installed and configured to provide much higher page throughput for these WordPress sites.

Some of the technology we’ve updated this Managed WordPress Appliance VPS offering with includes; Threaded Apache2 web server with FastCGI mods and recent/latest PHP5, latest MariaDB (MySQL compatible and fast DB) and some of the available WordPress “Cache” plugins eg: WP Super Cache.
