Building up our 24×7 NOC

We’re growing our services and capabilities all the time & along with continuing to look for someone to work with us on sales & marketing, we’re also progressing our “24 x 7 NOC”, being technically capable people available by phone and online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on a rolling roster of front-line IVR call transfers.

Primarily now we’re seeking technical adept Linux and Open-Source Professionals (probably calling themselves “System Administrators”) who may wish to be paid well for any transferred calls for Network & System Operations during a “rostered on” few hours each day or for some work days per week. When called by the IVR/VoIP front-line automated system, you would need to be available to speak to the person calling in and access the relevant web and command-line based interfaces to resolve or further diagnose and trouble-shoot the calling customer’s technical fault. Should the fault require further investigation or escalation, you’d be authorised to contact myself and other relevant system or network owners and higher level operations staff.

We’ve already got the critical 10pm – 2am Australian Easter Standard Time (AEST) roster slot covered, but we’d love to have at least another person available in that slot too.

There’s no “Accounts” or other form of activity required here, this is a On-Call NOC, being only for highly technical issues, usually some form of ‘fault’ in a service that we run (or that of our suppliers or other NOC customers) observed by the customer. The calling customer would be answered initially by the IVR and the customer would need to acknowledge that “this is a curent technical fault requiring high level assistance and that charges may well be incurred” (words to that effect) and the customer will need to enter a PIN code to proceed through the IVR system to the point where the call is transferred to the rostered-on personnel.

So if you’re available (say) from 6am to 11am or 11am to 4pm or 4pm to 10pm anytime and have the above technical skillset, with excellent english language skills and preferrably in Australia (but not a firm requirement there re: being in Australia), we’d love to talk to you about this part-time work we could offer.

Regards,
Richard.
