We’ve got your Australasian Big Data Cloud right here

In 2011 I read through (a few times), the following books broadly related to “Big Data”:

Hadoop: The Definitive Guide

Cassandra: The Definitive Guide

CouchDB: The Definitive Guide

Professional Apache Tomcat 6

HTML5: Up and Running

But not only have I “read through” them, I’ve used each of the above, at least to the point of installing them in a Linux VPS environment and in some cases (Cassandra & Hadoop) I’ve used them internally within Network Presence to gain more understanding of their long-term operations, and I’ve presented Training Courses on Tomcat Administration (next is booked for the week beginning February 27th and it’s now a 4 day course) and to this day Network Presence runs dozens of Tomcats, many Glassfish and associated large SQL databases in production for customers.

That knowledge and capability when combined with Network Presence’ existing range of VPS offerings is providing the opportunity and capability to create some “Big Data in the Cloud” specific products and services, which will be outlined further here and in Network Presence Forums during January.

The essence of the offerings are going to be:

+ 5TB+ of Disk Storage available to you by whatever Server technology you require from the (growing) list of; FTP, SMB, many networked & clustered File Systems, DRBD, MySQL, Hapdoop, Cassandra, CouchDB, SimpleDB, Volt, MariaDB etc.

+ 2TB of ‘Storage with Processing’ (ie: BigData) in a Cloud context (you can choose when to run instances of these VPS), again based on whatever Server technology you require from the (growing) list including; Hapdoop, Cassandra, CouchDB, SimpleDB, Volt, MySQL/MariaDB etc.

+ Custom Internet Routing Services. Using BGP, we can provide Internet Connectivity for any person or company which has a /24 or larger NIC assigned ‘Prefix’. We can provide a service where we ‘announce’ your BGP prefix based on an your NIC account’s assignments.

+ Your System, I’ll Build. Not hosted at Network Presence, but I’ll install, configure and handover, with support as you’d like, any of the above listed server & data processing technology you may require. I can do this on an Hourly Rate or as an easy “Complete to Handover” or “Handover and Support for 3 Months” (many more options too). I can also do this as on “Build at Network Presence and supply Image” terms.

There’s more to be defined and more details for each of the above, but this is an early indication as to what Network Presence can offer quickly in terms of “Big Data” and cloud (on-demand, remote hosted, API accessible) web based servers.

Regards,
Richard.
