We’re bringing a major local Sydney Internet Provider online to our Sydney POP via dual redundant fibre links. This will more than double our Internet connectivity and provide better routes to a lot of the Internet (particularly Asia and parts of America).

We’ll be progressively moving customer routes in Sydney over to being via these new links in Sydney in the coming weeks, but all tests/checks/moves to date have shown no actual customer impact (which is what we expect/want from this).

We’re persuing a business opportunity which would need up to 3 x Australian tax payers that are professional Linux/open-source SysAdmins (ie: like “us”) that can work a min. of 20 paid hours / week between 8pm to 8am AEST on Sunday through to Thursday. ie: 5 days / week of 20 hour ave. paid work.

During the weekend of Saturday & Sunday, October 10th & 11th we will be performing upgrades to selected hosting server platforms & one of our network uplinks of Network Presence in Sydney, Australia.

Customers with services (VPS) on the hosting platforms to be upgraded may be emailed advisory notices, and this is a general notice related to other ancillary upgrades and Infrastructure Maintenance being performed during this scheduled window of time.

This Maintenance Window starts from 10pm on the Friday evening, through to 6am Sydney time on the morning of Monday October 12th 2020 and I’ll be personally contactable by phone & online during and after these works in-case there’s any issues that arise.

During this Maintenance Window, selected network or server equipment will be worked on, upgraded and restarted. Works will be completed as quickly as possible (and where possible, timing information will be in emails to affected customers) and restarts are short service interruptions only, while upgrades may incur longer service interruptions.

This will incur outages to selected hosting services of Network Presence in Australia during this off-peak scheduled works period.
In addition, there may be some impact (short 5-10 minute periods) to the general Internet Connectivity of portions of Network Presence in Sydney during these works, though redundant routing will be utilised during these works. Our Adelaide POP is unaffected by this Maintenance Notice and works.

We’re working on upgrading a number of our hosting nodes in late 2020, with lots of customer migrations and upgrades occurring. eg: HDD to SSD, some SSD to NVMe SSD based disks and faster CPU clock rates across the updated server fleet.

Our Adelaide POP has put a number of new servers online and has capacity for many more which will come online in 2021.

As the next part of our 2020 Upgrades we’ve got some upgrades & migrations ready for the remaining aging KVM & Xen VPS Hosting Nodes in Sydney. Over September to December 2020, customers will be migrated to our newer server fleet in Sydney and Adelaide. We’ll post updates here on specifics for server hosts (“Nodes”) as they’re starting.

As our response to the COVID-19 Crisis in 2020 we’ve doubled the Network Traffic Quotas of all our customers, effectively immediately.

We’re updating our websites and product pages for this now, but it’ll be honored as of today re: double network traffic quotas.

We’ll be posting updates and new entries on the COVID-19 topic as it becomes relevant to the business of Network Presence.

Remote or Work-from-Home (WFH) has been the way that Network Presence has been run for years, so in this context there’s no problems presented to the business for regular operations & service due to COVID-19.

We have personnel available to attend our Adelaide and Sydney POPs as required still, and we foresaw the Government based Travel Restrictions and bought forward at least 6 months of capacity upgrades at each of our POPs (Adelaide and Sydney), so as to remove our regular POP Maintenance Works for the next 6-9 months.
