Using parted on > 2TB drives to create new partitions for LVM

On your Linux based hardware with “large” disks (>> 2TB drives to Linux) you may want to use the GNU ‘parted’ disk partition utility to create storage that’s available to the kernel & LVM.

As root run ‘parted /dev/sdX’ where X is the SAS/SATA/whatever controller’s drive as presented to the Linux kernel.

At the ‘(parted)’ prompt, enter:

mkpart primary ext3 0 -1
set 1 lvm on

Then ‘quit’ Parted to save your changes to the partition table on the relevant drive.

This creates a new partition assigned the whole drive capacity and gives it the LVM partition type, then saves those changes & exits parted.

SugarCRM & 8centSMS integration

One of our co-workers has recently created a SugarCMS module which allows for the sending of SMS messages from within SugarCRM, like emails are easily sent from within Sugar.
So if you’re looking for such integration of SMS functionality from within SugarCRM, please do get in contact, as it’s now a “Can do!” from Network Presence too.

Big Data Friendly & Capable Hosting in Australia

We love hosting & serving data, so some months ago we created the 1TB “Big Data Storage” VPS Appliance (managed VPS) Plan, but Internet time moves quick, so we’ve now introduced 5TB and 10TB Storage Appliance VPS Plans!

Further, we’re happy to install any of our Big Data Appliance server software set to these large Storage VPS, so if you wanted your 5TB available as a Hadoop Server or CouchDB (say), or your 10TB available via Cassandra, or MongoDB, Drizzle, Volt, MySQL/MariaDB or other DB or such Data Stores (even SMB, FTP, HTTP etc), then just let us know when you’re ordering your appliance.
