{"id":6121,"date":"2015-01-17T19:46:22","date_gmt":"2015-01-18T02:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.networkpresence.co\/?p=6121"},"modified":"2015-01-17T19:46:22","modified_gmt":"2015-01-18T02:46:22","slug":"info-on-using-ipv6-at-network-presence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.networkpresence.co\/?p=6121","title":{"rendered":"Info on using IPv6 at Network Presence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve provided IPv6 connectivity for our VPS and Colo customers for many years (5+) now and here&#8217;s some information on how to use and configure your IPv6 connectivity on your VPS at Network Presence.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, our network does auto-assignment of IPv6 addresses and this is &#8220;on by default&#8221; for all of our customer VPS images and Linux operating system versions.<\/p>\n<p>You can turn off this auto-assigment of IPv6 addresses by setting the following in your <code>\/etc\/sysctl.conf<\/code> file:<\/p>\n<p><code>net.ipv6.conf.all.autoconf = 0<br \/>\nnet.ipv6.conf.all.accept_ra = 0<\/code><\/p>\n<p>You can also completely turn off all IPv6 usage on your Linux VPS with the following set in <code>\/etc\/sysctl.conf<\/code> :<\/p>\n<p><code>net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Or run the command as root: <code>sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1<\/code><br \/>\n(note: no spaces around &#8216;=&#8217; character in the sysctl command-line)<\/p>\n<p>Finally, you can set your own specific static IPv6 address by using the following calculation for determining your static IPv6 address from your IPv4 address:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If your IPv4 address is 2.3.4.5, then your static IPv6 address is: 2400:c400:1002:11:2:3:4:5 and the IPv6 &#8220;Netmask&#8221; is 64 and the IPv6 Gateway is: 2400:c400:1002:11::87\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Please feel free to contact us if you&#8217;d like more details or help with your IPv6 use and settings at Network Presence.<\/p>\n<p>FYI and regards,<br \/>\nRichard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve provided IPv6 connectivity for our VPS and Colo customers for many years (5+) now and here&#8217;s some information on how to use and configure your IPv6 connectivity on your VPS at Network Presence.
