Data Centre & POP Maintenance Notice – from 10pm, Wednesday, June 5th

We want to deploy new hardware and software to our main POP and this work requires us to physically attend the Data Centre (Equinix in Sydney) to perform actions which are highly technical & specific to the hardware and systems of Network Presence.

This grows on from our earlier upgrades earlier in May and provides updates to our servers, including memory, CPU & network upgrades for a number of our current VPS Hosting Platforms. For example, we’ll be updating at least a further three (3) of Network Presence’ main VPS Hosting Platforms this evening.

Accordingly, I’ve emailed all customers who may be affected by the restarts and downtimes that will occur during this Maintenance Window, which starts from ~10pm Sydney time on the evening of Wednesday June 5th, 2013 and I’ll be personally contactable by phone & online during and after these works incase there’s any issues that arise.

All works that evening will be completed by 6am on Thursday, June 6th 2013 Sydney/Australia time, and importantly our Engineers will be staying on-site at this Sydney Data Centre during work hours on Thursday, to quickly attend to any issues which may arise as the new hardware settles into service.

FYI and regards,
Richard.

We ran out of time last week to complete all our scheduled upgrades and new servers in this visit, so we’ve arranged to rectify the problems of the last week by visiting the Sydney POP to restart afflicted platforms from 11pm on Friday June 14th, through to 6am Saturday June 15th.

    FYI,
    Richard.

A software fault in upgraded kernels has appeared from this work last week and accordingly, 4 of our recently provisioned (since April) VPS Platforms will be rebooted after midnight on Friday, June 14th.

Customers on serv02, serv05, serv06 & serv07 will have their VPS cleanly shutdown by us, then restarted after the platform reboots, with only 5-15 mins downtime expected.

    FYI and regards,
    Richard.
